The Luxembourg Agency for Development Cooperation (LuxDev) in Praia, Cabo Verde, and the Centre for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance of Cabo Verde (CERMI) are pleased to announce a Training of Trainers on Solar Thermal, under the Project “Strengthening the Regional Position of CERMI” financed by the European Union and implemented by LuxDev, in close collaboration with the CERMI. Solar Mini Grid Training apply till  Sept: 3rd, 2019

GIZ/EnDev will be organizing a five (5) days training on Solar Mini Grids from the 23rd September - 27th September, 2019. The training will be divided two parts, a theoretical and a practical session. The EnDev Liberia technical team and external trainers from Germany will facilitate the sessions about . The external trainers include representatives  from SMA, Asantys and Hoppecke who will teach about SMA components, Solar PV modules and batteries. 

All training costs including lunch will be covered by EnDev. However, participants will have to cover expenditures for accommodation. For some participants from Liberia, EnDev can transport them to the venue of the training. The Venue of the training is the Environmental Learning Center in Freetown, Sierra Leone and one of the Mini Grid sites.

Power Africa Grant for Market entry or PAYGO- Application deadline August 31st!  

The Power Africa Off-grid Project (PAOP), a United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-contracted project implemented by RTI International, seeks applications to fund one or multiple awards to provide incentives, in the form of grants, to qualified organizations/companies to catalyze rapid growth of off-grid energy access solutions in West and Central Africa.

Companies can apply for one or both of the two opportunities

  1. Market Entry: companies targeting new countries and/or new areas within existing country presence that are underserved e.g. Last Mile;
  2. Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) integration into off-grid solutions.

Purchasing and running costs for electrical versions of the three-tire vehicles (tricycle) locally known as Kehkeh might well be competitive with the present models on the road running on fossil fuels. Welthungerhilfe and EnDev want to buy E Kekes for own use to travel within Monrovia and introduce the concept to Liberian population. Other organisations have expressed interest. Anyone who wants to join in importing one of the first E-Kekehs in Liberia is welcome to contact GIZ/EnDev.
