On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, a four weeks solar technology course at Stella Maris University ended.  One hundred and twenty students from various technical institutions and universities in Liberia had joined the training and took part in the practical and theoretical tests.

They were awarded a professional certificate in renewable energy by GIZ/EnDev. The course was organized by Stella Maris University and sponsored by GIZ/EnDev to get more technical students into the Renewable Energy sector of Liberia, especially women.

At the closing ceremony, the Dean of technical college at Stella Maris University, Mr. Exodus Flanjay, appreciated GIZ/EnDev for such an initiative that will promote renewable energy In Liberia.

He added that his boss Sister Mary Laurene Browne, President of the Stella Maris University have accepted that the institution will include renewable energy as a course within their curriculum in a few years to come.

Mr. Lester Kroma, from the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA) encouraged students who participated in the training to remain focused on what they have learned.

Mr. Hans – Hartlieb Euler, Project Director GIZ/EnDev  spoke on the importance of solar in Liberia and the world at large at the program. He also evaluated students on what they learned during the course of the training. The Project Director told students that they will be called upon when there is an installation for more practice.
